Week 6 : 15 - 21 Oct.

Monday
Oh, this just gets better and better!

The electrician's boss came this morning to work out what needs to be done and the first thing that came up was... regulations... again! It seems that the young guy who came before was completely wrong about being able to put the various boxes in a waterproof cabinet of sorts within the pool enclosure - basically this would leave them exposed to the water during any maintenance, so requires a 3.5 metre clearance from the water's edge.

Then came the news that the pump is also too close, albeit just - it has to be 2.0 metres and is borderline, the Chemigen would also be far too close if mounted anywhere around the pool too, particularly since it can't be more than 1.2m from the pump. I pointed out that the conservatory would be going up and I could build a temporary structure but, no, it has to be a permanent barrier (i.e. wall) and the conservatory wouldn't do as it will have windows in the pump end!

So why the hell did they install it there in the first place? Particularly given that they don't seem to know it is going to be an indoor pool (remember the solar fiasco?). So I made the decision that everything is now going down the side of the house - they'll have to move the pump again!

[The building license for the conservatory has finally been issued by the council.]

Friday
The pool boiler is here - of course, it isn't connected yet, is it... that would be far too simple. They brought it round to the pool and put it in the cat run then decided they couldn't install it because the pump is to be moved and it has to fit between the filter and the pool circulation outlets.

So what about the second set of heater pipes that we paid for and were fitted to the pool? Apparently these would not be used... the boiler uses the standard circulation system to heat the pool. Yet another cock up.

The guys finally turn up to pre-clean the pool... well, get the sand out, since they did nothing about the scum line around the edge. They used their own pump to simply vacuum the sand from the various flat surfaces, dumped the water on the lawn and chucked some clarifier in - I could have done that!
